About Grafters Workshop

The idea of opening a Grafters workshop came from you, our clients. I receive so many calls and visits from students and sometimes their Mums on their behalf, asking if they can work in our salons to gain experience. Sometimes the experience required is in advance of them attending Hairdressing College which has stated that they must have some experience of working in a salon but other times the student is interested in hairdressing as a career and before committing to a full time course they can get experience to see if its an industry they truly want to work in. I have over 20 years experience in the hairdressing business, not as a hairdresser but as a business director/manager who employs excellent people. I set up our 1st branch of Grafters Hair Co. in Longford in July 2000. Our 2nd branch opened in Carrick on Shannon in July 2003 with our third salon opening in Castlerea, Co. Roscommon in July 2008. We currently employ 38 people and throughout this recent recession, we did not make any of our staff redundant, in-fact the opposite happened as we have had a number of new people join our team. We are delighted to boast of having some of our fantastic stylists still with us from the day we opened our business. Sometimes it is very difficult to get the time to train staff during working hours in a busy salon but we do have constant in-salon training sessions usually in the evening times throughout the year but, they are specifically for our own Grafters Hair Co. staff requirements, to update and retrain where needed. We also take a limited number of TY students from our local schools along with taking students from Hairdressing Colleges such as Templemichael College, Longford & Cavan College of Further Education etc. and we will continue to support our schools in this way. Some of these students have become employees of Grafters Hair Co. When students are completing their work experience programme with us, we hear the same thing time and time again. Students want more experience, time, more training and a part-time job to develop their skills. This is where the idea of Grafters workshop came from. We aim to give individuals a taste of what the hairdressing and beauty world is all about, while some students may only want some experience to secure a weekend or holiday job, others may want or need experience before going on further to secure a placement in hairdressing or a beauty college. Some of our clients have requested workshops to help them to manage their own hair in between salon visits. Have a look at what we have to offer, I think you will find that there is something to suit all. We have fantastic plans for this coming Autumn also with night classes and day workshops. If there is any other workshop you would like me to provide? Please let me know. I am a great believer in saying that ‘Customer Service is the most important part of any business’ if you listen to your clients then everything else will follow. We have listened and we now look forward to welcoming you to our workshops. Thank You, Pauline Belton
